Rad Power, Pedego, Electric Bike Company: Where Orange County Owners Get Service Now

If you own a Rad Power, Pedego, or Electric Bike Company e-bike in Orange County, you have probably had the same thought lately: the bike still rides fine, but who works on it now?

Here is the honest answer, plus what we can and can't do about it at our shop in Tustin.

What actually happened to Rad Power Bikes

Rad Power Bikes filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on December 15, 2025. Its assets were sold to Life Electric Vehicles Holdings, and the deal closed in early March 2026. The brand still sells bikes under new ownership.

The part that matters to you: per Rad's own warranty page, bikes purchased before December 15, 2025 are not covered for warranty claims. Purchases made after that date should still be honored, though owners report parts and service moving slower than they used to.

Rad isn't alone. Electric Bike Company filed Chapter 7. Pedego's Irvine store closed. Between the three, Orange County now has thousands of perfectly good e-bikes on the road with no factory service behind them.

Your bike is not the problem

Here's the thing worth saying plainly: a bankruptcy doesn't break your bike. Most of what goes wrong on a 2–4 year old e-bike is ordinary bike stuff, the same stuff that goes wrong on every bike ever built:

• Brakes that have gone soft, squealy, or rubbing
• A drivetrain that skips under power (very common on e-bikes: the motor eats chains and cassettes faster than legs do)
• Flats, worn tires, tubes that never seat right on fat-tire rims
• Wheels out of true, loose spokes, bearings with play
• Bolts, racks, fenders, and kickstands that rattled themselves loose
• A bike that was assembled badly out of the box and has never quite been right

None of that requires the original manufacturer. It requires a mechanic with the right tools and a stand.

What we work on, and what we don't

We are an e-bike shop first, so we see every brand that gets sold online: Rad Power, Pedego, Lectric, Aventon, Super73, Velotric, Ride1Up, Himiway, Heybike, and plenty of names nobody has heard of. All brands are welcome for mechanical service, including bikes you bought online and never had properly set up.

We handle:

• Mechanical service: brakes, drivetrain, wheels, tires, bearings, adjustments, safety checks
• Assembly and setup: the box-to-rideable job, done right, including the online purchase that showed up in pieces
• Battery diagnostics: testing what your pack is actually doing, so you know whether you're chasing a battery problem or a controller problem or neither
• Tune-ups: the whole-bike once-over most e-bikes have never had

What we don't do, so you're not making a wasted trip: we don't take on deep electrical rebuilds of off-brand systems, and we don't keep customer batteries in the shop overnight. That's a fire-safety call, and we're not going to bend it. If your problem turns out to be inside a no-name battery pack, we'll tell you straight rather than take your money to guess at it.

Bring it in and we'll look at it

There's no diagnostic form to fill out and no appointment system to fight with. Roll it through the door during business hours and a mechanic will look at it with you. If it's a ten-minute adjustment, we'll often just handle it. If it's bigger, you'll get a straight quote before anything gets done.

And if the bike really is done

Sometimes it is. A four-year-old budget e-bike with a dying pack and a rusted drivetrain can cost more to bring back than it's worth. We'll tell you that too. And unlike a website, we have 64 models on the floor you can actually throw a leg over, starting at $699 for an open-box deal, with a real mechanic doing the assembly and a warranty from a shop that's still here.

No pressure either way. Plenty of people walk out having paid for a tune-up and nothing more, and that's a good outcome.
